A toute vapeur

I have been here since Saturday and everything is well. My flight was miserable, but I survived. It was about an hour and a half drive from the Lyon airport. The family is very nice, I have been eating very well the past few days (steak, salmon, poulet). Everything they eat is "biologique"...organic. I have been going running everyday through the countryside; the Alps in the background. We are going skiing this weekend. The mom works at city hall and the dad is always busy with industrial business. The oldest, Mathieu, is very much into Green Day and Blink 182...he plays in a band; they play all these songs in English. Clara is 14 and is a typical girl with the exception that she is about as tall as me. Oscar, 10, is very amusing. I work on homework with him. They have a Wii, which I have been playing a lot. They took me to see Seven Pounds in French, that was an adventure. Also, the French are crazy for Obama. The parents told me that had McCain won, they would be staying in France. In fact, the father signed his contract the day after Obama was elected. We watched his speech on Monday and are of course watching the inauguration tonight. Everything is going well; I'll update this again soon.

Getting ready?

So, my French host mother just left, she came over to have dinner. Her name is Christine and she works (more like volunteers) for the city of Mours-Saint-Eusebe. She also teaches International Marketing in her spare time. There's 3 kids (Mathieu, Clara, Oscar- 16, 13, 10) and none of which speak English. Her husband travels all of the world, and couldn't be here tonight because he's in Singapore. In case you're unaware, their family is moving to Buckhead in July and she's here for a visit. Brought some really nice wine from the Rhone-Alps (where I'll be staying). Anyways, she's really nice- even more wealthy- but nevertheless, I'm excited. She talked of ski trips, weekends in Paris, tennis clubs and all that jazz. I'm just thankful to be going. I'll probably be taking class in Valence a few days a week, too. Anyways, I leave on Saturday. Need to get an international drivers license. Many things to do, should be a fun last week.
